Debajit Bhuyan

Devajit Bhuyan is an electrical engineer by profession and a passionate poet at heart, with a remarkable ability to compose poetry in both English and his native Assamese. He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), and a life member of Asam Sahitya Sabha, the foremost literary organization in Assam, a land known for its tea, rhinos, and Bihu. Over the past 25 years, Devajit has authored more than 80 books published by various publishers in over 45 languages. His total number of published books across all languages stands at 210, a number that continues to grow each year. His writings have been included in the class-X textbook for Assam under the Board of Secondary Education, particularly in the field of entrepreneurship. Among his published works, around 40 are poetry books in Assamese, 30 in English, 4 for children, and about 10 cover various other topics. Devajit’s poetry explores an expansive range of subjects—from human experiences to animals, stars, galaxies, oceans, forests, technology, machines, and even abstract concepts. Recognized for his contributions to literature, Devajit was honoured as the Poet of the Year at the Assam Poetry Festival in 2022 and the Kolkata Literary Carnival in 2023. For the past decade, he has also been mentoring development sector organizations, further showcasing his commitment to both literature and social progress.
